Javea Port

The port of Javea or Aduanas del Mar is a popular area for visitors to enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. The history of the Javea harbour can be traced back to the fifteenth century, although the first jetty was not built till the late nineteenth century. The modern harbour was constructed during the 1950’s and 60’s and is what remains in the town today. The nautical club was built in 1963 and is still a fundamental part of the harbour today.

The Nuestra Senora del Loreto Church is the landmark of the fishing port and was built in 1967. The original design of the church, resembling a fishing boat in the water, represents the strong fishing community in Javea today. Many say that the fishing quarter in Javea represent the heart and soul of the peaceful fishing town.

The Javea port area has recently been expanded and a long promenade lines the coast. Several small traditional restaurants and bars line the walk serving many local specialities, as well as international dishes. The port is like a small town in itself, with many shops and galleries worth visiting. There is a cinema in the area, as well as fish markets and cafes. Visitors can relax and enjoy the beautiful views, or stroll along the Esplanade.
